What A Lot of Fish

 Part 1   The teaching material

1. About the text book

   This is the 1st period of lesson 8 in English Rhyme 2, What a lot of fish!  It deals with 2 sentences:

What a lot of fish in the pond !

                  One fish, two fish,

         red fish,yellow fish,black fish, blue fish.

2. About the students

   Our students are from Grade 1. They are very active and very interested in acting.

3. About the teaching aims

 ①Aims on the knowledge

 A: Ss can learn the new words:fish,pond, red,yellow,black,blue,etc.

 B: Understand the main idea of the rhyme;

 C : And master the actions of the whole rhyme.

 ②Aims on the ability

     A: To develop Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking.

     B: Enable Ss to know how to work in groups 

 ③ Aims on the emotion

    A: To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation.

    B: To help the students to build confidence and interest in learning English.

4. About the key and difficult points

  ① Ss can say and the 2 sentences.

  ② To make sure that Ss can say “fish” and “black”correctly.

  ③ To help Ss do the rhyme vividly.

 

Part 2  The teaching methods

1. The “task-based” teaching method is the way to make the learners finish all kinds of task through using languages.

2. Situational approach can provide a real situation for Ss to understand the dialogues.

 

Part 3  Teaching procedures and purposes of the design
Step 1. Warming up

1. Divide the whole class 3 teams to have a competition.

2. Free talk between T and Ss

  T: Hello,boys and girls. How are you ?

  Ss: Fine, thank you.

3. After greeting with Ss, I will begin the lesson with a song "Clap, clap, clap your hands".

Step 2. Deal with the rhyme

. Introduce the topic

   Have Ss look at the picture of a lot of fish and ask“ What are they?”

   Ss: fish

T: So, today we’re going to learn What a lot of fish(write the title on the blackboard). Then let the Ss listen to the story.

Deal with the 2 sentences

1. Now, look at the picture and ask“ What’s this?”

  Ss:fish

  fish  T teaches how to say this word: sh, fi-sh

           (Pay attention to the sound /sh/ )

         let kids read the word team by team

         This time, read the word two by two

   2. T shows a picture of fish and says ‘’one fish

    To help Ss say ‘’ two fish’’

        Listen to T for the 3 times.

        Then, T say, Ss do& T do, Ss say.

        let's say it line by line, and say it row by row.

   3. T shows a picture and asks ‘’ what color of this fish?’’

     To help Ss say ‘’ red fish’’

     A. Then teaches ‘’ red fish’’

        Listen to T for the 3 times.

        Then, T say, Ss do& T do, Ss say.

        This time, read the word two by two

     B. The same ways to teaches the key words: yellow, black, blue

          Pay attention to the word: black

     C. Play a game to practice the 4 words: red,yellow, black, blue 

     D. This time, point and say

   4. Look at the PPT, one, two ... “a lot of fish

        Listen to T for the 3 times.

        Then, T say, Ss do& T do, Ss say.

        let's say it team by team, and do it row by row.

   5. T shows a picture of fish and says ‘’what a lot of fish

        Listen to T for the 3 times.

    Play a game: high& low voices.

     let's say it : boys and girls  & T and Ss

 6. T asks: Where are they?

       To help Ss say: in the pond

      Let Ss say it line by line.

      Let Ss say and do it.

 

Step 3. Production

 1.  Then teaches’’ what a lot of fish in the pond’’

 2.  Play a game to practice “what a lot of fish in the pond’’

 3.  Let Ss say and do it line by line & row by row.

 4.  Read all the 2 sentences according to the layout.

 

Step 4. Revision

  Review the 2 sentences all together.

    1. Follow T to say and do it.

    2. Let Ss say it : boys and girls  & T and Ss

    3. Play a high&low voices game to practice the 2 sentences.
